Application and classification of laser soldering

Laser soldering is a welding method that uses low melting point metal solder to heat and melt, then penetrate and fill the gaps at the joints of metal parts. Different from traditional soldering iron soldering, laser replaces the soldering iron as the heating medium, and uses the high energy density of the laser to quickly heat local or small areas to complete the soldering process, transforming it from contact welding to non-contact welding.
With the mature application and rapid development of electronic circuits, the demand for welding applications has become larger and larger, and the refinement has become more obvious. As a high-tech industry, laser soldering perfectly solves some of the problems encountered by traditional soldering. According to the state of the material, we can roughly divide laser soldering into three forms: tin ball soldering, tin wire soldering, and soldering paste.
1. Tin wire welding
The principle of tin wire welding is to use a laser to preheat the product pad. After the pad reaches a certain temperature, the tin wire is placed on the pad, the tin wire is melted by the laser, and then the melted tin wire is attached to the pad.
2. Solder paste soldering
Laser soldering is to apply solder paste on the pad, then use laser heating to melt the solder paste and then solidify to form a solder joint.
3. Tin ball soldering
The principle of solder ball laser welding is to send the solder ball particles to the nozzle through the ball feeding mechanism, and then irradiate the laser to melt the solder ball, and spray the liquid tin on the surface of the product through nitrogen gas.
